Hawthorne fruit 山楂 (shan zha)
Hawthorn fruit is sour and can be enjoyed fresh or dried. Cooling in nature, it is commonly used to aid digestion, relieve overeating and bloating and improve blood circulation, helping to reduce stagnation and pain. Hawthorn is often brewed into tea. Typically, 4-5 dried pieces are sufficient. It may also help alleviate chronic lower back and leg pain.
